Scope

This technical guideline covers the application, specification, theory, factory and field testing of liquid-immersed phase-shifting transformers (PSTs). The technical guideline is limited particular to PSTs and does not include matters relating to general power transformers covered in existing standards, recommended practices, or guides.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance for specifying and designing PSTs, in terms of general aspects of terminology, function, application, theory of operation, protection and design.

Two standard documents with same content exist, one is IEC 62032 and the other IEEE C57.135. It is intended to merge the two documents into Dual Logo standard IEC/IEEE 60076-57-135 while at the same time revising the content. A revision is needed to maintain and provide necessary updates and corrections for the application, specification, and testing of phase shifting transformers. Corrections to graphical diagrams and equations will be made. Sections will be amended as needed to provide more detailed information for users of the technical guideline and to improve understanding. Out of scope material or sections covered in other standards or guides will be removed.
