ISO/PWI 4907-4.2 Plastics -- Ion exchange resin -- Part 4: Determination of particle size by laser diffraction method

Scope

This document specifies a test method for determination of particle size of ion exchange resin by laser diffraction. This document is applicable to the determination of particle size of ion exchange resin ranging from 0,1 m to 2,0 mm.

Purpose

Particle size is an important specification of ion exchange resin, the ordinary particle size determination method is wet sieving by standard sieves. When the powder resins and the uniform particle resins are applied, wet sieving method is not practicable. The laser diffraction technique has been a dominant method for determination of particle size distributions(PSDs). The technique is fast and can be automated, and a variety of commercial instruments is available. Establishing particle size determination of ion exchange resin by laser diffraction method is very significant.
