ISO/PWI 22368-1 Crop protection equipment -- Test methods for the evaluation of cleaning systems -- Part 1: Internal cleaning of complete sprayers

Scope

This part of ISO 22368 specify test method for determining the performance of the rinsing systems on sprayers used in crop protection for the internal cleaning of the complete sprayer including the tank (ISO22368-1), and tank only (ISO22368-3). These are applicable to mounted, trailed and self-propelled agricultural sprayers used for crop protection and liquid fertilizer applications. These are not applicable to sprayers with direct injection systems.

Purpose

The cleaning of sprayers used in crop protection is important, especially for the following reasons:

• Proper cleanout of spraying equipment prevents accidental release of crop protection products between crop applications which may cause crop damage and environmental contamination or lead the mixing of incompatible crop protection products.

• Minimizing accidental exposures of crop protection products to the environment and the operator after spray applications Moreover, it is likely that the relevant sections of the industry need guidance in developing cleaning systems, so that the state of the art and a basis for future specifications can be evaluated.

Finally, the proposed test materials will ensure this standard is environmentally sound and sustainable, safe for the user, as well as a cost-effective test.
