Revision of EN 12281 Printing and business paper — Requirements for copy paper for dry toner imaging processes

Scope

This European Standard specifies the performance requirements for uncoated cutsize paper for dry toner imaging processes (i.e. copy paper), in 80 g/m2 and in A4 format based on EN 20216. Other grammages and sizes of the ISOA series are covered by this European standard, as long as the requirements specified in this European standard are fulfilled.

Purpose

The idea for the revision was to shorten the runnability, but the runnability is necessary for the calculation of the jam rate. The shortening of the runnability would only lead to the fact that the EN 12281 has no statistical method and therefore of a much lower validity. Therefore, it was decided to keep the runnability and to limit the revision to moisture content and coefficient of static friction only.
