Scope

This document characterizes the ability of an APTI to redistribute the pressure to support the user load during periods of lying down. This document applies to active and reactive products. It covers standard methods of testing, reporting results and the clinical relevance of these results.

Purpose

To provide direction for testing and dissemination of critical performance characteristics of a APTIs which will aid in selection and application of APTIs to improve the interaction between the APTI and the occupant. This will improve caregivers ability to maintain tissue integrity
