It is determined which system-specific influencing factors (dimensions) must be considered as part of a risk analysis in order to achieve an acceptable risk for a reliable system. As a result, the procedure described in this international standard provides the minimum scope of maintenan ce activities to be carried out and its corresponding maintenance cycles.
The procedures described are to be applied in such a way that the requirements of the applicable operational regulations are met. The implementation of the procedures determined on t he basis of this international standard improves the safety of people (occupational health and safety) and the technical functiona lity of the system (electrical, photometrical and mechanical).
The benchmark for the development of this maintenance program on the basis of a data model-based risk analysis are also the concerns of the taxi and air traffic.
Airports are required to conduct regular maintenance and inspections on their facilities. Unfortunately, there are no detailed specifications for this from the national and international regulations.
The purpose of this document is to define what an airport operator must do during inspections and maintenance based on an individual risk assessment.
This paper is intended to provide guidelines for action from which factors for creating a risk assessment for visual aids on airports can be derived.
