This document specifies a certification scheme for certification of PII processing operations against JT013037 (Privacy information management system per EN ISO/IEC 27701 –Refinements in European context).
The certification scheme is for operation by certification bodies in compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17065.The scheme is specified in compliance with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17065 for certification bodies.
JT013037specifies refinements for an application of EN ISO/IEC 27701 in a European context. Organizations can use JT013037 to support demonstration of compliance in this context.
JT013037, similarly as EN ISO/IEC 27701, can be subject to conformity assessment by certification bodies.
The assurance that certification provides to stakeholders relies on the requirements that the certification mechanisms comply with: requirements for certification bodies (accreditation), and certification schemes to ensure consistency, repeatability, etc.
For JT013037, the market stakeholders would greatly benefit from that level of assurance offered by compliance to such requirements. Indeed, stakeholders needs to be assured about the solidity and consistency of conformity assessment processes in the privacy field: data controllers and processors, data subjects, and regulators.
The proposed standard will specify these requirements to achieve that level of assurance for the certification of data processing operations against JT013037.
The requirements from the proposed standard can be considered for qualification as certification criteria as foreseen by GDPR article 42.
