Scope

This international standard specifies the requirements for factory-made rigid nano-microporous insulation, for use in industrial applications.

This document specifies insulation that exhibits thermal insulating performance through nano-sized-pore composite material. The material comprises a blend of inorganic powder, fibres and opacifiers.

The products are delivered as board or pipe section type. This document describes product characteristics and includes procedures for testing, evaluation of conformity, marking and labelling.

This document does not specify the required level of a given property to be achieved by a product to demonstrate fitness for purpose in a particular application. The levels required for a given application are to be found in regulations or non-conflicting standards

Purpose

Rigid nano-microporous insulation is a new type of thermal insulation and now used in high temperature thermal insulation all over the world.

It comprises a blend of inorganic nano-size powder, fibres and opacifiers. The products are delivered as board or pipe section type. Rigid nano-microporous insulation is used in many industries including iron smelting, petrochemical and other high-temperature processes. It is fire safe and exhibits low thermal conductivity.

There is presently no ISO product standard or specification for it. This brings difficulties to the producer, designer and end-users of the product.

An ISO standard of Rigid nano-microporous insulation can give the end-users a very clear specification of the product, properties, guidance on use, and methods for verifying conformance
