Standards Development
This document defines the functions of luggage racks and provides guidance on the expected performances of the passenger saloon luggage racks which are installed in heavy rail passenger vehicles under each speed level.
Luggage rack is an important component in rolling stock with various types. With the development of technology, functions of the luggage rack have upgraded from storage only in the past to assembly of air outlet, seat number display, speaker etc. now. Material of the luggage rack has also developed from all-metal frame to composite material, laminated glass, PC etc. At the meantime, demands for ergonomic requirements have been raising up to enhance the convenience and comfort for the passengers. From the quality promotion aspect, passengers’ demands of luggage storage, convenience etc. should be satisfied. Considering the development trend of the luggage rack products, it is necessary to provide design guidance to different country’s products from the level of international standards, increasing the convenience and universality when passenger storing the luggage.
