This international standard provides guidelines for the classification and performance of leather upholstered products.
This international standard is applicable for products made of leather upholstered for all levels of production.
This international standard is applied, if the upholstered material is made of leather or rather is a leather semifinished product in the sense of ISO 15115.
There are several materials in the market to make upholstered products. Leather outperforms every synthetic fiber known to man because of durability and quality. Leather is a three dimensional material and known for rendering unique properties like breathability, heat or cold insulation, tear and abrasion resistance, comfort, capable to act as a barrier against moisture evaporation etc. Due to these many advantages and versatility, leathers are highly preferred for making upholstered products. Here in this document, classification and performance guidelines for leather upholstered products are highlighted. However, there is no specific ISO specification or standard available as reference point of view for stakeholders like leather goods manufacturers, buyers or consumers. Hence, globally acceptable harmonious standard is recommended. (Please use this field or attach an annex)
