Scope

This document provides product construction and performance requirements for rigid and non-rigid sway brace devices intended to brace fire protection piping systems during a seismic event. The evaluation of the sway brace devices in this standard follows the Allowable Stress Design method.

Purpose

The main purpose for this proposal is to have a normative document describing the essential safety and performance requirements for seismic protection devices that are installed in a fire protection system.
