Standards Development
This British standard will provide guidance for all types and sizes of UK-based organisations on how they can provide assurance that they have measures in place to prevent potential or actual harm to individuals. (Individuals can include any child or adult who comes into contact with the organisation.) It will be applicable to any organisation working in the UK. It will be relevant to all organisations working in any of three sectors: statutory sector (for example, police services, NHS, local governments, prisons, armed forces, state education), the third sector (for example, charities, faith settings, independent education providers, housing associations) and the independent sector (for example, shops, restaurants, service providers, health and social care providers, sports associations, child-care providers).
