Scope

The standard needs to be updated to reflect new technology, e.g. the use of electric vehicles on lifting platforms. There are safety concerns that require more specific detail in the text, for instance testing of safety override and the misuse of override keys. Further clarity on the load test and lock mechanisms needs to be provided. The text will also be updated to reflect changes in BS EN 1493 'Vehicle lifts' and to include guidance on UKCA marking.
