This document specifies requirements (content limit) and a test method for certain flame retardants in toy materials.
Legal limit values for certain flame retardants have been introduced to European toy legislation by Commission Directive 2014/79/EU. A draft standardization request is available which request the elaboration of a standard to address the limit values for certain flame retardants in order to provide a tool of assessing compliance with the law. Furthermore, an agreement between CEN and the European Commission (SA 2018-06) has been concluded which includes the development and validation of a test method for certain flame retardants and the elaboration of a standard based on this test method.
