Scope

This document specifies requirements (migration limit) and a test method for bisphenol A in toy materials.

Purpose

Legal limit values for bisphenol A (migration) have been introduced to European toy legislation by Commission Directive (EU) 2017/898. A draft standardization request is available which request the elaboration of a standard to address the migration limit for bisphenol A in order to provide a tool of assessing compliance with the law. Furthermore, an agreement between CEN and the European Commission (SA 2018-06) has been concluded which includes the development and validation of a test method for bisphenol A (migration) and the elaboration of a standard based on this test method.
