The relative content of three components in IR, cis1,4-, trans1,4-, and 3,4-polyisoprene can be calculated respectively.
This method is applicable for raw isoprene rubber
soprene rubber(IR) is an elastomer polymerized by 2-methyl-1,3-butadiene with catalyst, which is widely used in tires and other rubber products. Different microstructure (trans, cis, vinyl) can be obtained by different catalytic system and synthesis process.
Microstructure of IR directly affects the properties of the materials, for example, the higher the cis1,4 structure content, the better the strain induced crystallization, and the higher the tensile strength and tear resistance.
Therefore, the identification of microstructure is very useful for IR. Both manufacturers and consumers have an urgent need to establish an uniform method. The purpose of this proposal is to develop a method for the determination of the microstructure of IR.
According to the resolution N 27/2021 virtual meeting of ISO/TC 45/SC 3 held on 2021-10-29, ISO/TC45/SC 3 agreed the proposal to develop a new ISO standard, and needed the draft to a NWIP ballot.
