Scope
Transversal unevenness is an important variable to describe the level of degradation of a pavement or for controlling a new laid pavement. The trend of getting a more detailed transverse profile with new equipment’s of today, gives the possibilities to extract more information from the profile but also to refine and adapt the current description of indices to fit these equipment’s.
The revision will focus on the following subjects;
• Add a description of how to use the high resolution transverse profile as the basis for calculating, and at the same time keep the description of how to use data from the older point laser technique.
• Adding new ways of describing indices from the transverse profile.
• Improved description of calculation routines for the indices.
• A new chapter with reference instructions and reference code as a guide to understand and implement the standard.
Purpose
The main purpose of this justification is to keep up with today’s demands.
New techniques for measuring road surface profiles have taken over the market for the last 10 years. As the hardware evolves, the possibilities for analyzing and using high-resolution data improve. The standardization must be in line with the rapidly development of profilometers.
