Scope

This part of ISO/IEC 62264 defines a model of a set of services and formats for handling identifiers of equivalent objects that are exchanged between Levels 3 and 4, and within Level 3, between applications with different namespaces performing business and manufacturing activities.

Purpose

This part of the standard is based on the use of ISO/IEC 62264 object models defined in ISO/IEC 62264-2, ISO/IEC 62264-4 and ISO/IEC 62264-5 (ISO/IEC 62264-1 and ISO/IEC 62264-3 do not contain object models) to define a set of services and messages that may be used to facilitate the mapping of identifiable elements between communicating applications.
