This template is based on SM reference architecture, taxonomy, terminology, and current use cases. It is developed for easier storage, search, comparison, and retrival of use cases from different SDOs and others. It could facilitate the harmonization of related work.
There are lots of activities related to SM use cases, and many SM use cases are collected using tables, diagrams, or text for different purposes. However, there is no unified template which causes difficulty in comparison of SM use cases.
The template for smart manufacturing use cases will assist easier comparison of use cases from different SDOs. Furthermore, a unified template is the base for the future SM use cases repository. This will allow use cases to be added to the repository from a wide range of sources, thereby facilitating the development of standards and implementation of SyC SM applications in the field.
The main structure of IEC 62559 template is applicable for SM, but needs improvement. With respect to the domain of SM, it needs to be improved by adding some items to reflect the aspects of SM, such as lifecycle management, manufacturing intelligence, etc. Since SM is concerned with system engineering, the logical relationships between actors should be analysed. The items in the SM use case template will be determined and clarified in this document to help users to complete the template and so the data can be stored in the repository. This work will also coordinate with SG12- MG.
