Part 2 describes the diagram symbols and drawing principles.
Part 1, 2 and 3 to be developed concurrently in same workgroup.
The work is a development and alignment of the IEC PAS 63131 to the IEC terminology and format. The IEC PAS 63131 was prepared by NO NC with TC 65: Industrial-process measurement, control and automation.
This NP cancels and replaces the pre-standard publication IEC PAS 63131 edition published in 2017. This edition constitutes a technical revision which includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the IEC PAS 63131:
The standard is divided into three main parts:
1) General principles
2) The diagram symbol part
3) The Application blocks definitions
The terms and definitions throughout the document shall be updated to be in accordance with IEC term and definitions in general.
The main drivers for establishing this as a standard are the advantage of efficient plant engineering, implementation, and commissioning, as well as reuse of the control application across different suppliers of control systems. The diagrams give an unambiguous logical representation that is suited for data transfer. The standard also includes a method of documenting sequences (in accordance with IEC 60848) and their interaction with the logic control objects.
