ISO/NP 16209 - Sintered magnesia

Scope

Electromelted magnesia is made from magnesite and other raw materials by melting in electric arc furnace to reach melting state and cooling.Sintered magnesia is made from magnesite, magnesite or magnesium hydroxide extracted from seawater by high temperature burning.In this process, because there is no specific standard for smelting, there are slight differences in the magnesia produced, and the slight differences will be magnified when applied to the product, thus affecting the product performance and quality.Therefore, no matter in fineness or granularity, it is urgent to formulate more detailed magnesia production standardsThus, the preparation of magnesite ore is rationalized and standardized, and the "world magnesia capital" is built. Only in this way can we ensure the healthy and coordinated development of the middle and lower reaches of Magnesite Industry Chain and create greater economic and social benefits.

Purpose

Magnesium is widely distributed in nature, mainly in the form of solid ore and liquid ore. Solid minerals mainly include magnesite, dolomite and so on; liquid minerals only come from sea water, natural salt lake water, underground brine and so on. Although magnesium is contained in more than 60 minerals, dolomite, magnesite, brucite and other minerals are the main sources of magnesium used worldwide, followed by seawater bittern, salt lake brine and underground brineChina's magnesite reserves are highly concentrated, and there are many large and medium-sized deposits. For example, Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province, is known as the "Magnesium Capital of China". At the same time, the ore quality is excellent, the international market competitiveness is strong, the exploration degree is high, and the utilization degree is high. The preparation of magnesite is in the middle and lower reaches of Magnesite Industry chain. Magnesium is the carbonate mineral of magnesium and the main source of magnesium.Magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate are commonly used in the smelting of magnesium metal and related compounds of magnesium preparation. Their main application is to prepare magnesia, which is mainly used in the production of magnesia refractories and related products. It accounts for 90% of the consumption structure of magnesite.Magnesite can be used to prepare fused magnesia, sintered magnesia and reburned magnesia, which can be used in building materials, refractories, chemical industry, agricultural fertilizer and other aspects. At present, there is no standard for the production of magnesia in the world, which leads to the instability of the properties of magnesia in various batches, thus affecting the stability and durability of all kinds of products used.
