CEN/TC 239 N 835, Revision of an EN 1865Â3 2012+A1 2015 Patient handling equipment used in road ambulances Part 3: Heavy duty stretcher

Scope

This European Standard specifies minimum requirements for the design and performance of heavy duty stretchers used in road ambulances for the treatment and transportation of patients. It aims to ensure patient safety and minimize the physical effort required by staff operating the equipment.

Purpose

Follow up of Decision 202108 taken at 35th plenary meeting. Within the revision, the standardisation mandate M/575 for Medical Devices will be considered to support the Regulation (EU) 2017/745. Furthermore new technologies will be adopted which willopen up new opportunities crucial for ergonomic improvements for the ambulance staff. Also changes from the latest EN 1789 version and the remaining EN 1865 series will be reflected.
