The method only applies to greases with cone penetration in the range 175 1/10 mm to 385 1/10 mm as measured using ISO 2137.
The purpose of this document is to prescribe a method for the evaluation of the behaviour of a grease when it is rolled in presence of water by the evaluation of the consistency change, and hence to predict its mechanical behaviour, the risk of leakages due to excessive softening, the risk of lubricating properties losses by excessive hardening or complete solubilisation.
