ISO/TC 17/SC 3 N 1301, ISO/NP 11772 Hot rolled longitudinally profiled steel plate

Scope

This standard specifies terms and definitions, classification and designation, information to be supplied by the purchaser, dimensions, shape, massand permissible deviations, technical requirements, dimension measurement, dimension measurement, inspection, test methods, packaging, marking and quality certificates for hot rolled longitudinally profiled steel plates. This standard applies to hot rolled longitudinally profiled steel plateswiththickness between 10mm-400mm for general structural and engineering purposes.

Purpose

Hot rolled longitudinally profiled steel plates, which are usually called LP steel shortly, are widely used in many countries. This kind of steel plate’s thickness varies along its longitudinal direction, namely has a profiled cross section from the side view. Its unique form makes it suitable for special applications such as ships, bridges and buildings, optimizing structure design and reducing consumption of steels, also improving seismic-proof properties. Taking 170k-tonage cargo ship as an example, use of 2500t LP steel plate may reduce 700m long welding line and 218t steel consumption. At present, there are no technical standardsfor such products in the ISO standard system. China has issued anational standard GB/T 37800-2019Hot rolled longitudinally profiled steel platerecently to standardize the production of LP steel. In order to ensure product quality system and supply quality stability, and to facilitate the correct selection and application of international customers, it is necessary to establish aninternational standard of hot rolled longitudinally profiled steel plate to unify itsquality and guide itsdevelopment globally. The formulation of this document will make clear the unified technical content, make the longitudinally profiled steel platesmore widely used and socially significant.
