Standards Development
This document applies to die grinders and small rotary tools for mounted accessories not exceeding 55 mm in diameter and mounted sanding accessories not exceeding 80 mm in diameter such as
– threaded cones or plugs that are threaded on a mandrel with an unrelieved shoulder flange,
– mandrel mounted wheels, and
– rotary files
with a rated speed not exceeding a peripheral speed of the accessory of 80 m/s at rated capacity.
Hand-held die grinders and small rotary tools are widely used by consumers and in construction industries worldwide. This proposed new Part 2 standard will be the successor to IEC 60745-2-23 Ed. 1.0: Particular requirements for die grinders and small rotary tools. This proposed new Part 2 standard is aligned with IEC 62841-1 Ed. 1.0: Electric Motor-Operated Hand-Held Tools, Transportable Tools and Lawn and Garden Machinery - Safety - Part 1: General requirements.
