37B/223/NP PNW TS 37B-223 ED1 Low-voltage surge protective components – Part 361: Surge isolation transformers (SITs) connected to low-voltage distribution system – Requirements and test methods

Scope

Applies to surge isolation transformers (SITs) dedicated to surge mitigation and for connection to 50/60 Hz power circuits and equipment rated up to 1 000V rms. Surge and mitigation performance and standard methods for testing and rating were established.

Covers surge-related parameters but does not address typical transformer tests and parameters covered by the IEC 60076 series, IEC 60989 series, and IEC 61558 series standards. This document also does not cover SIT operation under differential mode lightning surge conditions.

Purpose

Establish test requirements and method to confirm that it can be safely installed in the low voltage distribution system and also confirmed initial value before impulse withstand test, AC withstand test. This test is also performed to confirm that there is no abnormality in the insulation performance after impulse withstand test, AC withstand test.
