Scope

This document specifies an interface of a crane duty (loads, loads cycles) and its following elements:

- cylindrical gears, helical and spur and bevel gears, in open gear transmissions or enclosed in gear boxes

- gear boxes with their bearings and shafts

Purpose

Gears and gear boxes are essential load carrying elements in cranes. To date there is no European standards on gear boxes in cranes or how to apply the general gear calculation ISO standards to cranes.
