• principles of carrying out energy audits,
• process requirements for carrying out an energy audit in relation to energy performance,
• roles and responsibilities of the organization and the energy auditor,
• deliverables for energy audits,
• guidance on determining and/or evaluating the competence of the energy auditor This document will be applicable to all types of establishments and organizations, and all energy types and energy uses. This document will not address the requirements for selection and evaluation of the competence of bodies providing energy audit services. It also will not cover the auditing of an organization’s energy management system, as this is described in ISO 50003. Additional parts 2, 3 & 4 will be developed to provide informative guidance of this document in the context of:
• Buildings
• Processes (industrial, manufacturing and other processes)
• Transport.
In summary, the revised 50002 will appear in 4 parts: -1 General (normative), -2 building (guidance), -3 processes (guidance), and -4 transport (guidance).
Three separate Form 4s have been issued with drafts for Parts 1, 2 and 3. Part 4 will be developed later.
The purpose of the revision of ISO 50002:2014 is to:
• Align with the new terms and definitions, and concepts covered in ISO 50001:2018
• Provide additional guidance on applying ISO 50002 in buildings, processes and transport
• Clarifying the requirements of an energy audit process, and the roles and responsibilities of the organization and the energy auditor
• Take into consideration the learning from similar standards and practices
• Continual improvement of ISO 50002:2014 based on experience of using this standard
• Clarify the relationship between ISO 50002 and ISO 50001
