This International Standard specifies requirements for the construction of automatic milking installations (AMI), including specific safety and hygiene aspects and minimum performance requirements and testing, in addition to those described in ISO 5707 and ISO 6690.
It does not contain requirements for the design of the building in which the milking installation is installed.
SO 20966:20007 needs to be updated to state of art.
ISO 20966 should be revised along with ISO 3918 vocabulary and ISO 5707 Milking machine installations — Construction and performance. Combining ISO 20966 with ISO 5707 should be considered, they are closely related and reference to each other.
ISO 20966 should be updated to include common robotic milking methods.
ISO 20966 refers to IEC 60204-1 for electrical safety.
Preferable would be to refer to IEC 60335-2-70 Safety — Part 2-70: Particular requirements for milking machines which cover more relevant hazards. Consider establishing a liaison with IEC TC61 Household and similar electrical appliances to discuss the electrical requirement.
