This document gives guidelines for the selection and use of water-lubricated plain bearing materials used under fluid lubrication or boundary lubrication conditions.
In addition, this document gives guidelines on mating (shaft) materials, lubrication methods and items to consider during design when using water-lubricated plain bearing materials.
Water-lubricated plain bearings have been already used in the various fields around the world and the water used as a lubricant has its own specific feature deferent from an oil. However, there is no international standard (IS) of water-lubricated plain bearings.
The purpose of this document is to provide selection criteria for water-lubricated plain bearing materials used under various conditions in various equipments.
