This document includes requirements for (at least):
― technical layout description of the LNG tank trailer/rail tender coupling;
― technical layout description of the unloading coupling
― location of the unloading point at the tank trailer/rail tender
The transport of LNG over the road in Europa is organised through ADR regulations. This European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road specifies the safety procedures of the road tanker and driver. The realisation, operation and safety procedures for LNG fuelling stations are described in EN ISO 16924. The missing link is the interface between the LNG tank trailer unloading and the LNG fuelling station.
The aim of this standard is to describe a harmonised unloading coupling for LNG tank trailers at LNG fuelling stations. This standard can also describe the location of the unloading connection on the tank trailer. At some trailers the connection is located at the back of the trailer, at some trailers it is located at the left of right side of the tank trailer. It is now not specified, which means that tank trailers must manoeuvre at the fuelling station to make the connection which is not a safe situation. While LNG is also transported by rail, European regulations are organized through the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail (RID). The aim of this standardization proposal is to utilize the same configuration as defined by ADR also for RID. In this case the loading terminals can use the same configuration for rail as for road. The produced standard can also be applicable for unloading LNG at standalone installations for industrial applications.
