This International standard specifies the performance requirements for push pull, three pole, trip free circuit breakers having an inverse time/current characteristic, of normal ratings up to and including 35A, for use in nominal 115/200V three-phase 400Hz a.c circuits.
ISO1509:1973 General purpose push-pull three-pole circuit-breakers for aircraft-Performance requirements was published in 1970s, aviation has come a long way in nearly half a century, aircraft fly faster and higher altitudes, working conditions are harsher, all of these put forward higher requirements for airborne systems.
With the development of aviation industry, many of the current performance of aircraft circuit breakers have exceeded the requirements of ISO1509:1973, and even some new performance requirements are not reflected in this standard. There are new requirements for the protection characteristics of aviation circuit breakers. It is necessary to revise the ISO1509:1973 according to the new developments.
