ISO/TC 183 - ISO/PWI 11456 Copper and zinc sulfide concentrates -- Determination of silver content -- Acid digestion and flame atomic absorption or inductively coupled plasma emission spectrometric method

Scope

This International Standard specifies an acid digestion and flame atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) method, or inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) method for the determination of the mass fraction of silver in copper and zinc sulfide concentrates as follows:.

The method is applicable to concentrates having silver contents in the following ranges

Copper concentrates 10 g/t to 800 g/t

Zinc concentrates 10 g/t to 800 g/t

Purpose

Quantitative analysis of silver in copper and zinc concentrates is extremely important for the smooth trade. Fire assay method have already been standardized as ISO 10378, but it requires special equipment and the analysis process is long. Therefore, a simpler standard for wet analysis methods is desired by mines, smelters, umpire and other commercial laboratories.
