CEN/TC 337 N 514, Revision of EN 15518-3:2011 Winter maintenance equipment Road weather information systems Part 3: Requirements on measured values of stationary equipment

Scope

This European Standard specifies the terminology and performance requirements for all sensor components of stationary equipment within a Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS).

Purpose

The standard EN 15518 Part 3 was published in 2011. The main work goes back many years (2008). In the meantime, new knowledge has been added to most of the specifications. In essence, however, noninvasive (remote) road condition sensors are already used in many road weather stations. There is a tendency that this new technology will largely replace even the embedded road sensors in the near future. The specifications and requirements contained in the currently valid standard are no longer applicable to this new noninvasive (remote) technology! It is therefore imperative to revise and extend the standard up to the state of the art. All experts in the task group agree that all requirements contained in the standard should also be verified by suitable test procedures, which are specified in CEN / TS 155184. It is therefore urgently necessary that the associated CEN / TS 155184 is also revised and enhanced in parallel and in coordination with the requirements contained in Part 3 (see WI proposal for CEN / TS 155184).
