This document is applicable to emotion annotation process in AUI systems, it is not applicable to specification of particular engine and software.
The purpose of the proposed document is to make emotion annotation for user interfaces between human and computer. Fundamental descriptions and requirements for emotion annotation in AUI, which satisfy users in interaction scenarios, are also the purpose and justification of this document.
Affective computing builds a harmonious human-computer environment by enabling the computer systems and devices to recognize, interpret, and simulate human affects. Emotion annotation is the basic part of affective interaction, and is applied widely in the intelligent terminal, chatterbot, etc. Amount of annotation information such as emotion representation, range of annotation, timestamps, confidence should be required to improve the naturalness and effectiveness for human-computer interaction. Limitations on affective interaction include diverse emotion annotation element and annotation method currently used. A general and standardized emotion annotation is needed to facilitate applying diverse emotions within AUI.
This document discusses a range of emotion annotation that could be useful in the development of affective computing technology and application. This can be important to unify the emotion annotation for AUI. It can serve as a guideline for the academy and industry to regulate emotion annotation.
