These core practices are grouped into different kinds of practices that enable the application of any Agile execution methodology in acquisition, supply, development, operation, maintenance and disposal of software systems, products and services.
The practices defined in this standard are applicable for a single Agile project, as well as for an organization performing multiple Agile projects. These practices are applicable throughout the life-cycle of software systems, products and services
The purpose of this standard is to lay down the essential practices, which any of the Agile methodology must demonstrate. Acquirers, suppliers, developers, integrations, operators, maintainers, managers, quality assurers, and users of software systems, products and services for a range of situations and contexts can use this standard.
Standardization of agile practices is essential for the following reasons:
a) For vendor - it provides a list of essential practices
b) For procurer - it provides a basis to differentiate the maturity of the vendor by assessing against these practices
c) For both parties, it provides a basis for agreement
Standardization in this area will be very useful for software vendors, procurers of software and software development services, software service providers, large delivery and maintenance projects, system integration engagements having software components and in general, the entire software community.
