This method covers the determination of porosity of the oxide pellets (cooked)
Pellet porosity is one of the most important parameters in determining pellet properties and setting of furnace parameters in steel industry for producing high quality sponge iron product. Pellets with low porosity have low permeability to gases and therefore do not recover well. And pellets with high porosity are extremely fragile and break down in transportation and in furnaces, producing high fines and increasing production costs. Therefore, porosity must be always in a certain range.
