Scope
This standard specifies procedures for evaluating water penetration and resistance of garment products by artificial rainfall environment of garments. The method simulates various rain environments so that they can be utilized not only for high-function products but also for the development and quality control of general waterproof grade garments.
Unlike the existing method, which was limited to the evaluation of water penetration and resistance of the fabric, defects in product design and in technical factors that affect the results can be utilized in addition to the quality of the fabric through evaluation of garment product condition.
It is not normally applicable to products without resistance to rainfall. This standard is not applicable to testing of garments for resistance to other weather conditions.
Purpose
For protection of body temperature and comfort even if exposed to rain environment, we wear garments with waterproof performance. Although the clothing was manufactured using excellent waterproof fabric, the waterproof performance of the garment may not be expressed due to technical defects such as the design of the product or accessories and sewing parts used, so the evaluation of the garment product condition is very important. There are demands and standards for performance testing and evaluation methods of the fabric, but the methods and demand for performance test of garment products are extremely limited.
Therefore, it is necessary to develop a method for testing waterproof performance in the form of garment products. There are various rain environment conditions, such as heavy rain and drizzle. By providing the evaluation system that simulates various rain environments, it can be expected to develop efficient waterproof garment products suitable for the wearing environment. It is possible to provide objective data by preparing quantitative evaluation index in evaluating waterproof performance of garment products after rainfall.
