CEN/TC 191 N 1796 Fire extinguishing agents - Fire class A foaming agent

Scope

This document specifies requirements for chemical and physical properties, and minimum performance requirements of liquid foam agents for the preparation of firefighting foams suitable for the control, extinguishment and prevention of reignition of Class A fires according to EN 2.

This document does not specify requirements for firefighting foams suitable for application on Class B fires. These are specified in EN 1568.

Purpose

Firefighting foam agents for use on Class B fires are subject to EN 1568 Series. Currently there are no foam agents standardized for Class A fires. The German proposal specifies minimum performance requirements of liquid foam agents for the preparation of firefighting foams suitable for the control, extinguishment and prevention of reignition of Class A fires according to EN 2.

This proposal aims to establish standardized requirements on European level for Class A foam agents.
