With the increasing demand from customers of privacy and environmental comfort. New products called electron-switchable visibility control glazing and electrochromic glazing are widely used as vehicle side windows or sun-roof.
Because these two types of glazing have various transmittance states, which is changed by applying electric field, the optical properties are changed when changing states. For determining the performance of glazing when switching between different states, various test methods as following shall be conducted:
Regular luminous transmission shall be tested for determining the visibility of glazing in different state; Switching time test for determining the speed when switching between different states, which is important to the comfort feeling of drivers and passengers and maybe related to the safety during driving;
Insulation resistance test, which is related to electricity safety;
Radiation durability test, which is for determining the cycles during radiation and also related to the lifetime of products.
After testing following this standard, costumers can choose suitable product from different transmission range, different switching time, different switching cycles and results of other tests.
