Scope

This Protection Profile describes a set of security requirements for smart meters, based on the ‘minimum security requirements’ for components of AMI infrastructures in [5]. The requirements in [5] were based on the concept that there are a common/generic set of underlying ‘minimum’ security requirements associated with smart metering requirem ent specifications in a number of EU Member States

Purpose

The CEN/CENELEC/ ET SI Coordination Group for Smart Meters has developed a European approach for security certification of Smart Meters: a Protection Profile. This Protection Profile has been registered as an official Common Criteria document. In order to officially adopt and maintain the profile as a Technical Specification, an official CEN/CENELEC Technical Commiittee needs to be responsible. Therefore CEN/CENELEC JTC13 proposes to take this responsibility and adopt the profile. The intention is to adopt the profile in its current state and after that start a maintenance process as soon as changes are deemed necessary.
