ISO/NP 6834 Plain bearings -- Thermo-hydrodynamic lubrication design charts for circular cylindrical bearings under steady-state conditions

Scope

This document specifies a calculation procedure for maximum bearing temperature and effective dynamic viscosity in lubricant film of oil-lubricated and statically loaded hydrodynamic plain journal bearing with circular cylindrical shape, angular span Ω of 360°, and width ratio B* of 0,5 to 1,5 under fluid lubrication regime. Purpose and justification of the proposal

Purpose

Although ISO 7902 specifies the main characteristics of hydrodynamic plain journal bearings, it doesn’t specify bearing maximum temperature that is important bearing characteristic for high speed rotating machineries. A new document is required to specify the bearing maximum temperature, that is calculated by thermo-hydrodynamic lubrication calculation.
