This Standard establishes a method for determining the ethanol content in gasoline blends by gas chromatography (GC), using external standardization technique, and applied to gasoline samples with ethanol contents in the concentration range from a volume fraction of 1,02 to 52,3 %.
Fuel blends of gasoline and ethanol are widely used around the world. The ethanol content determination has an important role on these blends’ quality control and regulation. The proposed chromatographic method provides a reliable, accurate and selective quantification of the ethanol content using a very simple apparatus and procedure.
