ISO/IEC PWI TS 38508 Information Technology -- Governance of IT -- Governance Implications of the Use of Shared Digital Service Platform among Ecosystem Organizations

Scope

This TS aims to provide guidance to the governing bodies of organizations that are accountable for their organization’s use of ‘shared digital service platform’. Thus, this standard focuses on governance and not on the technologies themselves. This only covers ‘shared digital service platform’ to the extent that is necessary to understand the governance implications of their use.

Purpose

Since such use of shared digital service platform requires dramatic changes in operation, structure and culture, 63% of executives emphasize the importance of board partnership. This TS develops guidelines on how existing companies can build shared digital service platforms or participate in platform-based digital eco-system usually developed by large companies to spearhead their digital transformations. Although platform strategy can open-up new opportunities, there are also risks, limitations and important responsibilities for organizations. This standard explores the opportunities as well as the risks, limitations, and responsibilities that such shared digital service platforms pose to organizations.
