ISO/PWI 20530-2 Intelligent transport systems -- Information for emergency service support via personal ITS station -- Part 2: Service requirement for road incident notification

Scope

This standard specifies the use cases and general requirements to support convenient e-call services via P-ITS-S. This standards covers when an incidents occurs that accident detecting system fails to detect, or when there needs a manual e-call service due to harmed road users. With the use of 20530- 1, this project can offer emergency services

Purpose

This proposed project specifies a process for driver to notify car incident via P-ITS-S. It covers two cases. First case covers a scenario when a car hits road users. An accident detection system from ISO 20530-1 may miss to detect an accident. In this case, a driver can use a service supported by this standard and he/she call e-call agent to request an ambulance. Secondly, if there is an incident that accident detection system might fail to detect, there is a need for a driver to use e-call service manually. A driver can notify a car incident to police and insurance office, request a towing vehicle, and request an ambulance if there are harmed persons.

This standard assumes that P-ITS-S can access incident related data stored in the vehicle and there is no need for police and insurance company agents to come to incident site to investigate an incident if there are enough data provided from the driver..
