The surfaces of vehicle glazing are increasingly being utilized to carry camera sensing systems that are critical to the safety performance of the vehicle. Optical characteristics in areas like these lead to poor system performance and can compromise overall vehicle safety. Current optical measurement requirements (ANSI Z26.1; ECE R43; GTR 6) have test protocols that are based on driver vision and do not reflect the needs of new camera based sensing systems. A new methodology is necessary to analyze the optical distortions present in these areas.
