Performance requirements are established, where appropriate for the following:
a) materials, assembly, and design;
b) protected areas (coverage) and penetration resistance;
c) shock absorption;
d) puck impact resistance;
e) retention; f) optical quality.
This proposed new edition is being developed at the request of Ice hockey equipment and facilities committee. It will provide the industry with updated requirements and guidance for the testing and development of protective equipment used in ice hockey. This will meet the strategic needs of key interests by ensuring that the latest innovative/technology/safety features are available for users.
