ISO/TC 83/SC 5 N 422, ISO/NP 10256-3 Protective equipment for use in ice hockey -- Part 3: Face protectors for skaters

Scope

This part of ISO 10256 specifies performance requirements and test methods for face protectors and eye protectors (visors) for use in ice hockey and is intended to be used in conjunction with ISO 10256-1 and 10256-2.

Requirements and the corresponding test methods, where appropriate, are given for the following:

a) construction and area of coverage;

b) resistance to puck impact;

c) penetration;

d) field of vision;

e) optical quality;

f) marking and information.

This part of ISO 10256 applies to eye and face protectors worn by

— players other than goalkeepers, and

— certain functionaries (e.g. referees).

Purpose

This proposed new edition is being developed at the request of Ice hockey equipment and facilities committee. It will provide the industry with updated requirements and guidance for the testing and development of protective equipment used in ice hockey. This will meet the strategic needs of key interests by ensuring that the latest innovative/technology/safety features are available for users.
