Find out what cookies we use and how to disable themThe existing ISO19848 applies to the structure of the ship and to shipboard machinery and equipment, and is intended for implementers of software used for the capture and processing of sensor data from the objects mentioned above.
For those purposes, the standard describes the way to name the sensor, required data item, and the way to describe the data above.
In this proposal, we will extend Annex B.2 to describe codebook other than machinery equipment, such as navigational information, weather information around the ship, etc.
Further, to improve usability of the standard, we’ll introduce list of standard data names to Annex B.3, and “data catalogue” concept, which is a set of standard data names for the specific purposes such as performance analysis, etc. to clause 8. Its examples are described in Annex D.
The standard dictionary stipulated in the “Data Standard for Shipboard Machinery and Equipment (ISO 19848)” uniquely defines the way to name and to describe the measurement value from shipboard machinery and equipment. As a result, the convenience of the data users and the data owners to utilize the data is enhanced compared to handling individual data.
However, in the current ISO 19848 standard dictionary, only some institutional items regarding machinery equipment are defined as examples. In addition, in order to respond to future AI and IoT (autonomous ship, etc.) of ships, it is required to expand and enhance the standard dictionary to data other than machinery equipment, such as navigation data, navigation / weather data, ship motion data, etc.
Also, since there are thousands of data channels on the ship, it is difficult to select the data that the application needs from among them. Therefore, this standard introduces the new concept of a "data catalogue", which is a set of standard data names for a specific purpose.
