This document specifies the general aspects of oriented unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-O) solid wall piping systems intended for water supply and for buried drainage, sewerage and irrigation under pressure or above-ground where protected from direct sunlight. In conjunction with ISO 16422-2, ISO/TS 16422-3 and ISO 1452-4 it is applicable to PVC-O pipes, PVC-O fittings, their joints and to joints with components of other plastics and non-plastics materials intended to be used for the following:
a) water mains and services lines;
b) conveyance of water for both outside and inside buildings;
c) drainage, sewerage and treated waste water under pressure; d) irrigation under pressure.
It is applicable to piping systems intended for the supply of water under pressure up to and including 25 °C (cold water), intended for human consumption and for general purposes as well as for waste water under pressure.
This part is also applicable to components for the conveyance of water and waste water up to and including 45 °C.
The piping system according to this International Standard is intended for the conveyance of cold water up to pressures of 25 bars and especially in those applications where special performance requirements are needed, such as impact loads and pressure fluctuations, up to pressure of 25 bars. P
PVC-O market have been increasing every year in volume and regions over the world. Many new countries have adopted or used as a base the current ISO 16422 as a reference standard. The state of the art of PVC-O have changed quite a lot since the last revision of the standard 6 years ago, new range of existing products and new products have emerged.
This along the need of correction of some technical errors justify the need of the revision.
This proposal will bring to the users an updated and amended version in line with other similar products such as PVC-U that will make it more comprehensible.
Based on the result of the ISO 16422:2014 SR ballot (ISO/TC 138/SC 2 N1936) and the ad-hoc group proposal of the future of ISO 16422:2014 (ISO/TC 138/SC 2 N1976) the document should be revised and split it into four parts in line with the structure of the ISO 1452-series (PVC-U).
- Part 1: General
- Part 2: Pipes
- Part 3: Fittings
- Part 4: Fitness for purpose of the system
